Mary plays an important role in post-operative care, including seeing gastric bypass patients for their one-month visit; taking patient calls and answering questions; working as a liaison with physicians; and handling clinical care for patients.

Terri Shamblin, LPN, – Insurance and Scheduling Specialist
Terri Shamblin, a Maryville native, joined Foothills Weight Loss Specialists in 2007. Her services include insurance verification; monitoring patient appointments and progress; and pre-determination of surgery. She is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Melody Helms, MA – Patient Advocate
Melody Helms joined Foothills Weight Loss Specialists in 2008. Melody takes patients through every necessary step to get them ready for pre-determination of insurance coverage. She oversees testing, records, appointments and patient progress.

G. Douglas Cox, Ph.D. – Behavioral Health
Dr. Douglas Cox, a Maryville resident, joined Foothills Weight Loss Specialists in 2007. Dr. Cox brings a wealth of experience to our practice and is an excellent resource for our patients.

Dr. Cox works with patients to uncover any underlying psychological issues leading to overeating and the resulting weight problem. He then helps them work through those issues and helps them establish positive behavioral changes.

Dana Bradley, RN – Certified Bariatric Coordinator
Dana Bradley, an employee of Blount Memorial Hospital, serves as a liaison between the hospital and Foothills Weight Loss Specialists. She educates patients on the weight loss process; coordinates all education classes for patients and hospital staff; leads support groups; and assists patients before, during and after hospitalization.

Bradley is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the National Association of Bariatric Nurses and the Obesity Action Coalition.
